Even though she grew up just across the river in Liberty County, Doris Traylor has lived in Blountstown for more than 70 years! At 97 years young she is still making Fig Preserves, and freezing home grown peas and corn for her beloved family.
She has given her time and talents to Calhoun County for many years in various capacities. She has served in numerous organizations, including The Blountstown Garden Club, Blountstown Main Street, The Chamber of Commerce, and Keep Calhoun County Beautiful.
In 2016 Jackie Jordan presented Doris with a plaque and beautiful flowers from the Ladies of the First Baptist Church WMU in appreciation for her 70+ years of dedication, and endless hours of hard work and contributions to the missions of the church.
Most notably Ms. Doris was instrumental in securing funding for the Magnolia Square Gazebo Project.
She has always been known for her work ethic and tenacity. Nothing will stop her from fulfilling any commitment she has.
In 2013, after not being able to find her car keys Ms. Doris, made sure to arrive on time for the annual Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce banquet. The near 92 year old made the most of the banquet's country theme and arrived on horseback, never missing a beat.
Ms. Doris Traylor is the epitome of a Local Legend and her endless dedication to Calhoun County is greatly appreciated. Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for Calhoun County, FL.
